Overview

EA Elektro-Automatik BT 20060-500 3U is a single output battery tester with regenerative energy recovery, 60V voltage, 500A current and 15000W power.

The battery tester with regenerative energy recovery in the BT 20000 series from EA Elektro-Automatik are two quadrant devices which can perform the function of a charger as well as that of an electronic load (discharging). In discharging mode the device is regenerative and feeds the energy back into the local grid with an efficiency of up to over 96%.

The EA-BT 20060-500 3U is a high-precision battery tester from the EA Elektro Automatik BT 20000 Series, designed in a 3U form factor with triple outputs for versatile cell, module, and pack testing. Each channel delivers up to 500 A and 60 V, with a total parallel current of 180 A per device, leveraging autoranging technology to provide full power (up to 15 kW total) across a wide operating range. With regenerative efficiency up to 96%, it minimizes energy costs and heat generation, reducing the need for air conditioning. The device features high-precision 18-bit digital control, fast transient response, and selectable control speeds (Normal, Fast, Slow) in CV, CC, CP, and CR modes. Communication is ultra-fast with 1 ms command processing, supported by built-in Gbit Ethernet, ProfiNet, CAN-FD, and EtherCAT interfaces, enabling seamless integration into automated test systems. Safety features include a second sense input for reverse polarity detection, automatic pre-charge to prevent sparks, and dynamic sense regulation for detecting cable faults. The tester is scalable; up to 64 units can be paralleled to achieve system power up to 1.92 MW. It comes with EA Power Control software for test sequencing and EA Battery Simulator for emulation, plus SCPI and ModBus command languages, and drivers for LabVIEW and IVI.
